Churchfields Bowling Club, Reigate

History

Established over 60 years ago, Churchfields prides itself on being a friendly club with separate sections for men and lady players. It has a newly built clubhouse with all modern facilities. There is an extensive programme of home and away matches throughout the season.

We welcome new members to the game of bowls. We have a member who is a qualified coach and willing to offer tuition . Churchfields also stages an annual bowls tour towards the close of the summer season.

Churchfields wound up the '08 season by winning the Surrey Mirror Borough Pairs competition.  Skip Peter Melville and team-mate Derek Thorton beat Chipstead 19-17  after 18 ends following a marathon final lasting nearly three hours.

Melville said : " We were not among the teams tipped to win the trophy , we were not in the top ten in fact , so we are particularly pleased to win for the first time in our 70-year history."

The trophy was presented by Surrey Mirror Series sports reporter David Groves.
